		a river runs through me

		my infinite patience
		smooths the stone
		I walk my fingers
		over the sharp outline
		to soften the stone
		so it may stick meekly
		to my hands

		a river runs through me

		I wash the trees' leaves
		and treacherously
		eat the golden sand
		from under their feet
		so they may slip within me
		and touch my lips
		with their swaying branches

		a river runs through me

		my hand caresses
		the cat's back
		its fur sings
		there is fear in the branches
		the trees
		are fluttering
