		O Chowanna, my Polish Upbringing
		come in from the wood that has died
		speak
		the truth
		with your mouth carved in bark
		about death and about love
		you straighter than those pines of yours
		Chowanna
		warm as a throbbing winter stove
		Chowanna
		you enslave
		with hue and color
		you spellbind
		in the smell of wasting leaves
		your breasts so cut in pine
		breathe with my breath
		Chowanna
		raze from the face of the earth
		all unopened doors
